In two weeks we start a new session of classes on Tuesdays nights at the gorgeous ESL bar in Shaw. Every class is followed by a free Practica until 10pm.

Along with a brand new series for beginners, we are excited to be offering 6 weeks focussed on the skills & building blocks required to lead and follow tight turns (giros) and beautiful, decorated stops (paradas).

Time/Dates:
Tuesdays
April 9 - May 14
Beginners (and returning beginners) class: 7 PM
Advanced Beg/Intermediate class: 8 PM
Free Practica (open practice time): 9:15 PM - 10 PM

Location:
Eighteenth Street Lounge (Shaw)
1230 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001
1st Floor, (in the Red Room)

ESL is a bar so you must present proof that you are over 21 EVERY WEEK at the door.

Remember! our Tuesday night classes always sell out so get your spot before someone else does.

Korey Ireland is coming back to Washington DC this Spring! A former DC resident, Korey has a deep connection to our community and is always eager to share his knowledge of music and tango.

Join Masha and Korey for a weekend of dynamic, musical tango learning!

SATURDAY APRIL 13:

Workshop 1. Swooping Corridas - add rhytmic and lyrical spice to your dance. We will practice a very versatile and dynamic structure allowing followers to enliven the music in a compact space. We will explore connecting this move to other elements and to the music.

Workshop 2. Double-Double - movements with chained accelerations. We will build a toolkit of extended double-time dance possibilities for leaders and followers and use this as an opportunity to build our rhythmic awareness in music and dance.

SUNDAY APRIL 14:

Workshop 3. Troilo: Movement Playground and Musical Opportunities. We’ll bring the musical and movement ideas from Saturdays class to practice with fabulous tangos from Anibal Troilo’s orchestra in the early 40s. This music is energetic and changes often, allowing us lots of opportunities for dynamic/interactive dancing.

Workshop 4. Musical Dialogs. The interaction between leaders and followers in relation to the music. How can a dancer in each role reveal what inspires them in the music to their partner. Articulate, Aware, Connected dancing is super fun!

Korey will also be teaching before Milonga Zandunga April 15th, 9 PM - 10 PM.
Location: Capital Ballroom, 7800 Wisconsin Avenue (2nd Floor) Bethesda, MD 20814
Price: $20 (cash at the door)

The last bit of Annapolis news we want to share is that we just completed an amazing round of Tango Teacher Training. Congratulations to all the graduates who absolutely rocked it! The next Teacher Training will be in early 2025. Hear what past participants are saying about it:

I really, really loved this course! There was an amazing amount of tremendously useful content, thoughtfully presented and somehow all delivered with Aja’s beautiful warmth and uncanny ability to find and tap into each of our unique strengths as dancers and potential future teachers" (C. Pax)

Aja has thought deeply about how to get people started down the path of learning and has developed a comprehensive approach to presenting that material to people interested in helping others learn the craft of tango. She was very generous with all of her "yeites".  The program met my objectives of becoming a better dancer and practice partner, while exploring the possibilities of sharing my experiences with other students. (T.Berry)
